I wanted more music in my life...
Since my surgery I'd been looking around and realized it had been months since I made music. Maybe I'd picked up my acoustic for 5 minutes but my bass, Butter, sat collecting dust when only a few years ago she brought so much joy when I found her in my life.
Blame it on this past semester, blame it on my left foot! No excuses. It was time to bring music back into my life. Music has been part of who I am always. Whether dancing as a little kid for my parents dinner party, writing songs all in minor keys on the piano too sad for my age, or dating exclusively musicians for my entire life (I'm reconsidering this approach), or playing bass with the boys and finally with the girls, it's been with me and has provided hours and hours of pure love, creative expression, terror and joyful release!
So I did it. I decided to bring it back and the first thing I needed was to go shopping! I wanted to get a looper pedal like my amazing friend and art hero Leyya Tawil aka Lime Rickey but then I remembered,"I don't have an amp!," and so the search began. I thought I found what I was looking for in an AMPEG, but really, do I need to get that amp the HE made me buy for our band and then later sold to my brother who sold it for pennies. NO. New. New Fender Rumble 100 watts at 22 pounds, perfect.
And today after a few things I am off the the Bay to play with my old band mates, just a jam, a noise session. I'll bring along one of my migration songs and see if we can't develop something for that. If you want something, go get it. Make it happen. And yeah that might mean ya gotta go shopping! You are worth it. This is the time. Why wait? Make yourself happy now and it will ripple out to everyone around you. Now for that looper pedal, lets see... ebay?
